This is another original pattern, inspired by the cupcake purse I crocheted a couple months ago. It’s very versatile, both in color and design… there are any number of ways you can modify the pattern to suit your tastes.

As usual, I’ve only ever written patterns for myself. So if you want to try this one and are confused about anything, please leave a comment and let me know!

Materials used:

Red Heart Super Saver Solids yarn. One skein of each color desired.
Size I/5.5 millimeter crochet hook

COLOR A:

Rnd 1: Ch 2. 10 DC in second ch from hook. Join with a sl st to the first dc (10)

Rnd 2: Ch 1. Work 2 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first dc.(20 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1. Work 2 dc in the first stitch. Work 1 dc in the next stitch. *Work 2 dc in the next stitch. Work 1 dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (30)

Rnd 4: Ch 1. Work 2 dc in the first stitch. Work 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches. *Work 2 dc in the next stitch. Work 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (40)

Rnd 5: Ch 1. Work 2 dc in the first stitch. Work 1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches. *Work 2 dc in the next stitch. Work 1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (50)

Rnd 6: Ch 1. Work 2 dc in the first stitch. Work 1 dc in each of the next 4 stitches. *Work 2 dc in the next stitch. Work 1 dc in each of the next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (60)

Rnds 7-9: Ch 1, sc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first sc. (60)

COLOR B:

Rnd 10: Ch 1, dc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 11: Ch 1, dc in back loop only of every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

COLOR A:

Rnd 12: Ch 1, dc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 13: Ch 1, dc in back loop only of every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

COLOR B:

Rnd 14: Ch 1, dc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 15: Ch 1, dc in back loop only of every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

COLOR A:

Rnd 16: Ch 1, dc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 17: Ch 1, dc in back loop only of every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

COLOR B:

Rnd 18: Ch 1, dc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 19: Ch 1, dc in back loop only of every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

COLOR A:

Rnds 20-21: Ch 1, sc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 22: Ch 1, dc in same stitch and the next. Ch 2, skip next two stitches. Repeat around, join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 23: Ch 1, sc in every stitch around, 2 sc in each space, join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 24: Ch 1, sc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 25: Ch 1, 2 dc in every stitch around, join with sl st to first dc.

RUFFLES:

These are worked into the front loops left available on the rows where you crocheted into the
back loops only. In the contrasting color (or same, if you choose), Ch 1, sc into same space. Skip next stitch, then five tc into next stitch. Skip next stitch, sc into the next stitch. Repeat around, join with sl st to first sc. Repeat for one or as many back loop rows as you choose.

Optional: for a wider ruffle, do a second row by Ch1, then sc in sc stitches and dc in dc stitches, join with sl st to first sc.

STRAP:

Make 2 chains of desired length. I used two strands of yarn for each, for extra durability. This is optional, however.
Weave through spaces left from round 22. Weave one strap in from left side, knot together. Weave in second strap from right side, knot together. Pull both to cinch the top of the bag closed.
